This new boatyard opened just two months ago, it is situated on the Portuguese side of the river Guadiana at the extreme southern end of the town. The owner Enrique Garcia Tomé is from Spain and is a keen yachtsman and owns a beautiful ‘Hanse Christian’ yacht.
In charge of administration in the yard is Pedro Rodrigues, who is also a keen sailor and speaks fluent English. As can be seen from the photograph the yard has a travel lift which can lift up to 70 tons.

The yard itself is completely covered in tarmac which gives an excellent surface for both moving boats around and for the storage of boats ashore. There is a large covered workshop, owners of boats are allowed to sleep on their boats when ashore and carry out any work on their boats themselves. There are showers etc for anyone who is living on board or working in the yard.

The boatyard also offer electrical, marine engineering, woodwork, gel-coat repair and painting services as well of course as high pressure cleaning, antifouling and polishing.

When I visited the boatyard this week (December 2006) I could see that there were already 18 boats there, I am sure that it is going to fill up very quickly.
