To see a google map of this area click here, the marina is shown a little south of Alto da Barra.

The new marina at Oeiras shown in the photograph above (38° 40’.60 N / 9° 19’.00 W) and situated approximately halfway between Cascais and Lisbon and immediately to the east of Forté São Julião da Barra has been open for less than a year and is already an enormous success.
I am often asked by people for advice on sailing to Cadiz, Gibralter, the Balearics, Morocco, the Canaries, Madiera and the Azores. But I very rarely get asked questions about going north to Lisbon, I have done this trip many times and have always enjoyed it. Lisbon is a beautiful city and Cascais, Estoril and Sintra all with stunning romantic architecture are all within 30 minutes drive in a hire car from the marina which is located just off the Estrada Marginal which is the coast road and therefore a perfect place to berth your boat whilst exploring the area.
Whilst most of the berths have been taken there will always be several reserved for visitors, with Oeiras just 150 nautical miles from Vilamoura it is less than 10 hours away from the Algarve by motor cruiser and 24 to 30 hours sailing in a Yacht.
When I asked the Director of Oeiris Marina, ‘Fernando Dominges’, for the secret behind the success of the marina within a year of its completion he replied that it is because they have kept the marina fairly small and intimate with just the right amount of high quality shops, restaurants and cafés. There is also of course a chandlery.
There are a total of 274 berths for vessels of up to 25 metres in length. There is an 8 ton crane and plenty of room for storing your boat ashore, the marina place particular emphasis on the protection of the environment but do allow owners to carry out work on their own boats. Adjacent to the marina is a salt water swimming pool and wonderful beaches with excellent car parking close to all the marina facilities.
To reserve a berth in the marina telephone: 214 401510 or Fax: 214 401515 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Their web site is in the process of being constructed and is: www.oeirasviva.pt
